Every year there are always few select events that bring together Toronto's fashionistas and with the recent announcement putting an end to Toronto's Fashion Week, everyone is hungry for more. This year we had the pleasure of attending TOM*, (Toronto Men's Fashion Week) to see what menswear designers have planned for fall/winter 2017.
I want to start off by saying that this year TOM* has really stepped up their game and definitely positioned the event as THE fashion event in Toronto. This year, it has been moved to the heritage industrial building Waterworks. This open concept building is the perfect space to house a huge runway that really puts the emphasis on showcasing the designers' collections. The large screen that anchored the runway projects beautiful imagery that perfectly complements the fashion being showcased.
Monday night kicked off the 3 days of runway presentations and showcased designers such as Helmer, Curtis Oland, Hip and Bone, and Kollar. Each and every one of these designers was extremely talented, but I have to say that in my opinion Hip and Bone, and Kollar both stole the show. The fun and urban street wear contained the perfect mixture of casual and edgy, wearable pieces that anyone would love to (and could) introduce into their wardrobe seamlessly.
I decided to stay really chic and understated with my outfit last night, so I found this really cool athletic inspired suit from Zara. It had an elastic collar and coordinating cuff in the pants, which added a really unexpected but fun detail. The jacket had an Asian inspired look that I've seen a lot of lately, with the mandarin collared shirt. I'm always a fan of black on black mixing details and textures!
Without a doubt, we had a fab time at this year's event. We are super excited to see what the remaining runway shows will bring and we are even more thrilled to hear that TOM* will be kicking off Women's Fashion Week very soon!
