Noie Fashion: Fashion Art Toronto (FAT)

For the past week Fashion Art Toronto (FAT) has been debuting their collections and NOIE got a chance to experience the closing night. This was my first year attending and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I am a huge fan the underground art/fashion scene and all the creativity that comes along with it. These shows aren't like your typical runways shows; they are way more experimental and like to push boundaries.

Noie Fashion: FAT exhibits

FAT was held at the Daniels Spectrum cultural centre out in Toronto's east end. When you first walked into the event space you found yourself in a casual lounge area filled with art installations from various designers and artists. The exhibits kept you engaged while you waited to see the runway shows.

Unlike other fashion shows that primarily focus on designers and their runway collections FAT incorporates various creative expressions such as music performance, dance, art and digital imagery to bring an immersive experience to their audience. The experimental and creative side of fashion takes centre stage at this event, giving designers the opportunity to unleash their wildest visions. I just want to say that I really respect this kind of freedom because it allows you to think outside of the box and produce truly beautiful works of art.

Of course I had to do my own little fashion shoot! For FAT I chose to go more edgy with my look by wearing some leather pants from Zara and one of the lightweight silk shirts from Topman that I have been loving lately. I picked pink to bring out that spring vibe and layered it with an olive suede biker, because I can’t go anywhere without a biker. Of course I couldn't forget my old school Ray-Ban's to complete the look.

Overall I had a blast at this event, I am so proud of all the talented Canadian designers and artists that choose to put out their visions to the world to inspire us all. Can't wait for next year!
